Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez may have broken up in early 2013, but the on-and-off couple were nowhere near finished with their tumultuous romance. In Justin’s ’Believe,’ the new documentary released on Christmas Day, he talks about what it’s like to be in love and to experience real heartbreak.

Believe is an honest portrayal of what it was like to be Justin Bieber during his Believe tour, which ran from September, 2012 to early December, 2013 — a period during which Justin and ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez certainly had their ups and downs. While the Biebs did not specifically name Selena while opening up about his experiences with love and heartbreak, it’s pretty clear who he was talking about!

Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe’: Selena Gomez Heartbreak Was An ‘Extreme Feeling’

When asked if he has ever been in love, Justin replied, “Of course I’ve been in love. I think that being in love is the most powerful thing ever. It’s an extreme feeling.” He went on to admit that yes, he has also been heartbroken, and that the feeling is just as extreme as being in love.
Justin compared the moment of heartbreak to a “clenching feeling” in his chest. So sad!
While Justin did not mention Selena by name, who else could have had such a powerful impact on the young popstar? The pair were officially together for more than two years, and they have been dating on and off for most of 2013.

Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez — Still In Love With Each Other?

Justin and Selena officially broke up in January, 2013 — allegedly because Justin had been texting other girls – but they reunited several times throughout the year.
In April, 2013, Justin and Selena appeared to have a brief reunion in Norway, where Justin was performing at the time. In July, 2013, the two spent the Fourth of July together. And they often seem to be sending not-so-secret messages to each other via Instagram and Twitter!
However, Selena has said that she misses the Justin that she fell in love with, and while Justin has been involved in his fair share of highly publicized antics recently, the Believe documentary showed that he is definitely maturing and learning from his mistakes!
